WELL, YES...

BUT, IT'S ALSO A B*TCH!

Ignite Baltimore!

I recently went to my first Ignite series. Five minutes, 20 slides. What would you say? At every Ignite Baltimore, 16 artists, technologists, thinkers, and personalities take the stage to answer this challenge. Our goal is to spark new conversations and collaborations across cultures and disciplines. It was nice to get sucked into worlds or topics new or foreign to me. The complimentary snacks and booze were a nice bonus too.

The following was one of my favorite presentations of the night... a muddy mix of some pros and cons to marriage.

In its right place

I'd actually like to fast-forward this moment and the next, but apparently there is beauty in slowing it down.

I really respond to this color palette

Sometimes I want to dissolve into the background

In the artist's words: "The illusion of 'disappearing' into the landscape that surrounds her, is in reality a blending, she is now 'part of the landscape' in her quest of belonging," Paredes explains to us. "The theme behind all is re-location after displacement and migration and how one has to adjust in order to belong. Tough it is, but it has to be done, without forgetting our origin."

More chic art

What makes these so awesome are the captions that accompany them.
These are clips from Lizzy Stewart's illustrated diary. Enjoy.

Creative Mornings (Days & Nights)

I've been keeping my sanity lately by listening to the inspiring stories and encouraging, soul-searching words of other creative types. Creative Mornings provides a platform for a variety of artists, musicians, writers, etc. to share their creative process, life experiences and pass on gems of hard-earned knowledge. The series is spreading, adding more and more cities. I'm hoping Bmore or at least DC will make the list some day... Till then, you can catch inspiration thru these videos. They are usually 20 minutes of bittersweetness that make me not want to come back from my lunch break.

Mug Shot Art

I'm strangely drawn to these vintage mug shot prints, especially the chic below with scornful/raised brow.

My Mom sent me these even before I saw them on Quipsologies... Strange times we're living in...

Hip Hop for the Home (or Office)

So many good quotes, it's hard to choose just one. Maybe I'll do "Don't sweat the technique" for the office and "Everyday I'm Hustlin'" or "Thinkin of a master plan" for the studio. Decisions/decisions...
These wood type prints are brought to you by Paper Jam Press.

Kitchen Art?

These furry/feathered animals are so damn cute, I almost feel bad for eating them :-/

Pick up these and other awesome animal art at The Animal Print Shop.

Squirrel Karma

If this exist, I'm totally screwed since my car has taken 2 squirrel lives in the past 2 weeks. It's honestly a sickening feeling... the sound of crunching/cracking lil harmless squirrel limbs. All he (or she) was trying to do was get a nut... aren't we all in some way or another??? This print by Andreas Krapf made me chuckle.
Check out a couple more of his fun pieces...
